Sorry I should have explained more about the piece. My birthday is this month so I made this on New Years Day as treat to myself. The photo is not the best, so I will try to get a better one posted.

Hi everyone
Just getting back into Beaders Online! Does the piece submitted have to be created especially for the competition or can we submit a previously made piece? I have a necklace that I made about 10 yrs ago for my City and Guilds course that has a silver set Lavender Amethyst cabouchon. Would it be ok to submit it?

Thanks
Sarah xx

Hey Sarah! Glad to se eyou online again ... happy new year!

as to your question ...
If it fits, submit it.

Ideally we would like people to create for the challenge, but if you have an already existing piece that fits just right (and it sounds as though you have) then get it posted, it will be ok as a compeition entry, just let us know a bit about the piece (materials, techniques etc) ... we wanna see!

Ok here goes then.....(I will try and create something especially for the competition as well though!)

I made this about 10 yrs ago as one of my college pieces when I was studying the City and Guilds in Jewellery Making. We had to hand make the entire necklace, including clasp. I created a mount for the Lavender Amethyst Cabouchon from silver, and was inspired (as you may be able to tell!) by Charles Rennie Mackintosh for the circles either side of the central cabouchon. Each of the chain links is soldered too, accompanied by much swearing and ruined pieces of silver wire, as it was so thin I kept melting the whole link rather than just the solder!!

I haven't done much silver work since I finished the course, but am just starting to get back into it!

Ooh I know this isn't newly made but it is still one of my favourite pieces I've made so far It's a simple core string of beads embellished with loops of seed beads and amethyst chips. It feels so nice to wear
